About This Site

There’s always a backstory…

After many years of bemoaning our lack of a church website – an enterprising youth in our congregation, Andrew Keating, offered to put one together for us. He had more than enough technical skills to build a site for us, but sadly we didn’t support him with any budget or meaningful, regular, updated content. Andrew creatively worked around this by using free services and grabbing content where he could. But soon enough, Andrew was no longer a youth, but rather a man who moved off to college! We thank Andrew for getting the ball rolling.

For a few years various members of our church took assorted steps to try to obtain a domain name and look into hosting services, but, again – we just didn’t have our act together to give them the needed support to get a site up and running. We thank those folks for keeping the idea alive.

This is where Brian Jose came in. Even though he was undoubtedly busy with his work and beautiful young family, our beloved Brian agreed to do it all. He obtained our domain name and contracted with a hosting service; he sought out the content himself and finally published a lovely hand-built site onto beaconfallscongregational.org! But to the shock and grief of our entire church family – Brian tragically passed away while much of the content of the site was still “under construction”. Honoring Brian’s countless hours of loving service to bring the website to fruition – his widow Marilia kindly turned over all the needed information for us to keep his work alive. We didn’t know how we were going to keep the site going, but knew we had to. We thank Brian for publishing our first site on our own domain and for making the site a priority to our church. We lovingly dedicate this new site to Brian’s memory.

Enter Geoff Fox. The longtime TV personality isn’t just a weather-man. He’s a technology buff that has been doing websites “on the side” for many years. When he found himself unexpectedly unemployed in early 2011 he held a contest on his blog, GeoffFox.com. He invited civic & non-profit groups in need of a website to post their cause, promising to design and publish a new site for the group garnering the most votes from his readers. We pleaded our case and praise be to God, we won! What you see today is his handiwork. We think he perfectly captured the personality of our congregation with his simple, clean and elegant design. His photography and graphic design skills have really customized the site, setting us apart. He worked with our domain and hosting company to secure our access to Brian’s work. He set us up on the incredibly powerful and user-friendly WordPress. He cheerfully accommodated our numerous updates, tweaks and changes. Perhaps most importantly – he patiently tutored our secretary on how to add and update content so that we can now keep it going! We thank Geoff for his time and talents in publishing our beautiful, professional and unique site and for being such a pleasure to work with.
