Maundy Thursday

We will observe Maundy Thursday with a Candlelight Service of Holy Communion and Tenebrae on Thursday March 29th @ 7:00PM. Our 5th grade Sacraments Class students will be receiving Holy Communion for the first time that evening. Come experience this beautiful worship service for yourself. Many in our church family cite this as the most moving and special service of our year. We do warn you, however, that it is a “dark” service both physically (no lights, only candlelight) and emotionally (including solemn readings of the betrayal, trial and crucifixion of our Lord and an affecting performance of the hymn “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?”). It is likely not appropriate for young children, please exercise parental discretion accordingly.
To learn more about the actual events this worship service recalls, grab your bible and read Matthew 26:17-30; Mark 14:12-25; Luke 22:7-20. Or, check out this great summary of the Last Supper by Mary Fairchild: About.com’s Bible Story Summaries.
