The Rev. James E. VanPelt (or, “Parson Jim” as he is affectionately known by all) has served as our Pastor since November of 1988. He is a veteran of the US Navy, serving as an officer aboard two ships during the Korean War. A graduate of Tulane University and The Boston Univerisity School of Theology, he was ordained in the Methodist Church in 1960. Since then he has served Methodist, Congregational (UCC and NACCC) and Federated churches before coming to Beacon Falls. Parson is recently widowed from Marilyn, his wife of over 54 years. He has three grown children and three grandchildren, all of whom have profound musical talent.
Joe McWilliams has served as Director of Music since September of 2000. He has been a full-time pianist, teacher and composer since 1989 and has performed and recorded throughout 27 countries as well as opening for and playing with some of the best known performers in Jazz and popular music. Come, hear for yourself why many in our congregation say the music makes their worship experience.
Lee Marks has served as our Sexton since 2005. He is responsible for the janitorial upkeep of our historic church building. Lee is married to Wendy (who is our church school superintendent), and is the father of four great kids, Katie, Aly, Jacob and Justin.
Liza Zajac Whitehead has served as our Secretary since April of 2010. She administratively supports the Pastor and the various church boards/committees. Liza also attends our church school nursery on Sunday mornings. Besides her church work, she is a home-maker and stay-at-home mom to hubby Joe, and kids Beth, Robbie and Lorelei.
