WE LOVE FEEDING BEACON FALLS!

We aim to show the love of Jesus Christ through simple acts of feeding our neighbors.  We pray they will taste and see that the Lord is good. We welcome donations! Attached are wish lists of some of the most requested items across all our local outreach programs, and if you order directly thru the attached links there is an option to have items shipped directly to the church! Please note these lists are not exhaustive & will be updated regularly with new items:

THE COMMUNITY SHARING SHED

The Community Sharing Shed is located in our church parking lot and houses a variety of non-perishable items as well as produce that does not require refrigeration (we will add perishable food when we have electricity running to the shed – it is a work in progress).   Members of the community who need some assistance can stop by and pick up items they need.  In addition, members of the community can drop off donations to help stock the Sharing Shed.
The Sharing Shed hours are 8:30AM to 7PM daily (or longer) and will have an open flag out when open for donations or pick up.  The Sharing Shed will be run on the honor system to allow patrons privacy as needed.
Community Sharing Shed Most Commonly Requested Items

The Sharing Shed is a registered participant in the Little Free Pantry Movement which is a grassroots, crowd sourced solution to administer to immediate and local need.  Whether a need for food or a need to give, mini pantries help feed neighbors and nourish neighborhoods. Littlefreepantry.org

BEACON FALLS CARE CLOSET

The Beacon Falls Care Closet assists local people in need.
*Annual Non-Perishable and Household Supply Drive to support The Beacon Falls Food Bank, administered by St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church.

*Annual Backpack and School Supply Drive – we coordinate a school supply drive in town and supply backpacks full of pens, paper, notebooks, etc. to students in Beacon Falls that are in need.

*Annual Christmas Giving Tree – each year we coordinate with the schools and food bank to supply clothing, toys, and needed items to Beacon Falls families in need of assistance.

ANNUAL HOLIDAY DINNERS (Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve)

We provide FREE, fully prepared (just heat n’ eat) holiday dinners to any Beacon Falls resident who asks.  We are deeply grateful for all those individuals, organizations and businesses who donate and volunteer to bring these dinners to fruition.

LASAGNA LOVE

This program matches our church with those in Beacon Falls who can use some extra help feeding their families.  Our “Lasagna Mamas” gather once a month (typically the 2nd Tuesday) to prepare & freeze several lasagnas and we then deliver them throughout the month to those in need.

You can request a lasagna HERE.

Please check out our SignUp Central page & Facebook for a list of dates/times/volunteer & donation opportunities.

HOLIDAY FAMILY FUN

Easter Baskets – Annually we reach out to our community to ask Beacon Falls families who may be struggling to request a FREE EASTER BASKET for each of their children. This simple gift of candies/chocolates and some small toys is our way of wishing all a HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY!

Easter Egg Hunt – Our church holds an annual Easter Egg Hunt following service on Palm Sunday. We invite the children from the congregational, guests, and United Day School to join us.  In addition, we also have a visit from the Easter Bunny to meet the children.

Halloween Trick or Treat – Our church is located in a densely populated area of mostly single-family homes and is a huge attraction to treat-or-treat-ers due to the closeness of the houses and the flat landscape. We participate in the wonderful neighborhood tradition by handing out bags of treats, set up games, and welcome visitors to the neighborhood.  We enjoy this event as much as the trick-or-treaters.

Home Touch Ministry
Each week, we send our homebound members a personal package from our church. It contains two pages printed in LARGE type for easy reading, reminding them of how much they are remembered and loved. The devotional page includes a thought for the week, a prayer and a short, inspirational message. The activity page, important because shut-ins have so much time on their hands, is chock-full of things for them to do during those long hours of the day. Each activity is based on the Bible or church life. The Home Touch mailings help to fill those long, quiet times of the day in a meaningful way.

Welcome Bags Ministry
When a new home buyer moves to Beacon Falls, we visit them with a welcome bag full of coupons and gifts from local businesses and of course our church. We deliver on average about 15 bags per month.  It has been a great way to get to know our new residents and introduce them to our church and our members.
